Henry Swinburne
Henry Swinburne, the traveler who drew the Grand Tour
Henry Swinburne (1743-1803) was an English traveler and writer who journeyed through Spain and the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies between 1775 and 1780, recording architectural and archaeological observations accompanied by first-hand drawings. His Sketch of a Ceiling, Vatican Gallery aptly conveys this antiquarian perspective, attentive to decorative detail as much as to the structure of the spaces. He published Travels through Spain (1779), considered the first English antiquarian text devoted to the country, works that also became a source for historian Edward Gibbon. Bringing one of these prints into your home means preserving that research, not filling an empty space.
Crafted to last
Every Framed Art Print is made with fine art paper, then finished and framed by hand in Italy. We do not chase an immediate effect: we seek a result that remains faithful to the original colors over time, because a work intended to be passed down deserves a foundation as solid as the story it tells.

A work of art, not just decoration
A print does not merely fill a wall: it carries a theme, an era, and a story that continues to speak to those who view it. The works by Henry Swinburne preserved by Miriaci remain true to this principle — pieces chosen for their meaning, even before their aesthetic appeal.
Aesthetics fade. Meaning remains.
