Henry Wallis
Henry Wallis, from Pre-Raphaelitism to Ancient Ceramics
Henry Wallis (1830-1916) was a British Pre-Raphaelite painter, best known for the celebrated painting The Death of Chatterton, before devoting himself almost entirely to collecting and studying ancient ceramics from the 1870s onward. He became one of Europe's leading experts on Italian Renaissance maiolica and Persian, Byzantine, Greek, and Egyptian ceramics, as documented by the plate Egyptian Ceramic Art, Plate 7, taken from one of his monographs. He published around twenty studies on the subject, making a decisive contribution to the historiography of ceramics from the ancient Near East and Mediterranean. Bringing one of these prints into your home means preserving that research, not filling an empty space.
Crafted to last
Each Framed Art Print is made with fine art paper, then finished and framed by hand in Italy. We do not chase an immediate effect: we seek a finish that remains faithful to the original colors over time, because a work intended to be passed down deserves a foundation as solid as the story it tells.
Why choose Miriaci

A work of art, not just a decoration
A print does not merely fill a wall: it brings with it a subject, an era, and a story that continues to speak to those who look at it. The works by Henry Wallis preserved by Miriaci remain faithful to this principle — pieces chosen for their meaning, even before their aesthetic appeal.
Aesthetics fade. Meaning remains.
