Hugo Gerhard Ströhl
Hugo Gerhard Ströhl, the hallmark of European heraldry
Hugo Gerhard Ströhl (1851-1919) was an Austrian painter and illustrator, and one of the most authoritative European heraldists of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He published seminal works such as the Österreichisch-Ungarische Wappenrolle and the Heraldischer Atlas, still considered among the finest heraldic reference works ever produced. In 1906, he published the Nihon Moncho, the first systematic Western study of Japanese family coats of arms, from which the plate Japanese Book of Arms, Plate 1 comes, helping spread knowledge of Far Eastern heraldry throughout Europe. Bringing one of these prints into your home means preserving that research, not filling an empty space.
Crafted to last
Each Framed Art Print is made with fine art paper, then finished and framed by hand in Italy. We do not chase an immediate effect: we seek a result that remains faithful to the original colors over time, because a work intended to be passed down deserves a foundation as solid as the history it tells.

A work of art, not just a decoration
A print does not merely fill a wall: it carries a theme, an era, and a story that continues to speak to those who look at it. The works of Hugo Gerhard Ströhl preserved by Miriaci remain faithful to this principle — pieces chosen for their meaning before their aesthetics.
Aesthetics fade. Meaning remains.
