Pierre Jean Mariette
Pierre-Jean Mariette, collector and art historian
Pierre-Jean Mariette (1694-1774) was a French engraver, art historian, and collector, born in Paris into a family of print dealers. He built one of Europe's most important collections of drawings and engravings, part of which entered the collections of major museums, and among his works is the engraving Ancient Black and White Mosaic Floor. His notes on artists, collected posthumously in the Abecedario, remain a fundamental source for attributing old master drawings and earned him the title of father of connoisseurship. Bringing one of these prints into your home means preserving that research, not filling an empty space.
Crafted to last
Each Framed Art Print is made with fine art paper, then finished and framed by hand in Italy. We do not chase an immediate effect: we seek a result that remains faithful to the original colors over time, because a work intended to be passed down deserves a foundation as solid as the story it tells.
Why choose Miriaci
Choosing Miriaci means relying on work carried out with care, from printing to delivery.
- Careful shipping: each piece travels protected, ready to hang.
- Archival materials: 300 g/m² fine art paper and frames chosen to last over time.
- Real support: our team remains available to help you choose the work best suited to your space.
A work of art, not just a decoration
A print does more than fill a wall: it brings with it a theme, an era, and a story that continues to speak to those who view it. The works by Pierre-Jean Mariette preserved by Miriaci remain faithful to this principle — pieces chosen for their meaning, even before their aesthetics.
Aesthetics fade. Meaning remains.
