Yamashita Hakuba

Yamashita Hakuba and the World of Traditional Toys

Yamashita Hakuba was a Japanese illustrator active in the first half of the twentieth century, known for his plates devoted to his country's traditional folk toys. His illustrations for the Kyōdo Gangu Shū collection, such as Plate 9, carefully document the handcrafted toys of Japan's various provinces with an almost ethnographic eye, often linked to seasonal festivals and popular beliefs. His work belongs to the movement to rediscover material culture and regional craftsmanship that characterized Japanese illustrated publishing during the Shōwa period, an era of rapid industrialization in the country. Bringing one of these prints into your home means preserving that research, not filling an empty space.

Crafted to Last

Each Framed Art Print is made with fine art paper, then finished and framed by hand in Italy. We do not chase an immediate effect: we seek a result that remains faithful to the original colors over time, because a work intended to be passed down deserves a foundation as solid as the story it tells.

Why Choose Miriaci

Choosing Miriaci means entrusting yourself to work carried out with care, from printing to delivery.

  • Careful shipping: each piece travels protected and ready to hang.
  • Archival materials: 300 g/m² fine art paper and frames selected to last over time.
  • Real support: our team remains available to help you choose the work best suited to your space.

A Work of Art, Not Just Decoration

A print does not merely fill a wall: it brings with it a theme, an era, and a story that continues to speak to those who look at it. The works by Yamashita Hakuba preserved by Miriaci remain faithful to this principle — pieces chosen for their meaning, even before their aesthetic appeal.

Aesthetics fade. Meaning remains.
