Hans Prinzhorn

Hans Prinzhorn and the collection that changed the way we see art

Hans Prinzhorn (1886-1933) was a German psychiatrist and art historian whose research forever changed the way we view the creativity of people with mental illness. After graduating in medicine in Heidelberg in 1919, he assembled a collection of more than five thousand works created by psychiatric patients, including 'Apparition in the Air', Hallucination, an image born more from an inner vision than from a conscious artistic intention. In 1922, he gathered this work in the volume Bildnerei der Geisteskranken, a pioneering text that directly influenced Jean Dubuffet and laid the foundations for the recognition of Art Brut and outsider art. Bringing one of these prints into your home means preserving that research, not filling an empty space.

Crafted to last

Every Framed Art Print is made with fine art paper, then finished and framed by hand in Italy. We do not chase an immediate effect: we seek a finish that remains faithful to the original colors over time, because a work intended to be passed down deserves a foundation as solid as the story it tells.

Why choose Miriaci

Choosing Miriaci means relying on work made with care, from printing to delivery.

A work of art, not just a decoration

A print does not merely fill a wall: it carries a theme, an era, and a story that continues to speak to those who look at it. The works by Hans Prinzhorn held by Miriaci remain faithful to this principle — pieces chosen for their meaning, even before their aesthetics.

Aesthetics fade. Meaning remains.
