John Emslie
John Emslie: astronomy drawn for everyone
John Emslie (1813-1875) was a British cartographer and engraver who, in Victorian England, put his talent at the service of popularizing science. For the publisher James Reynolds & Sons, he created dozens of hand-colored wall charts dedicated to geography, astronomy, and geology, designed to bring the discoveries of the time out of laboratories and into classrooms. His Theory of the Seasons and Signs of the Zodiac captures this spirit perfectly: a cosmic diagram made readable, almost poetic, through its educational clarity. Today, his charts are preserved at the British Museum and the Wellcome Collection, testament to work that has endured for almost two centuries. Bringing one of these prints into your home means preserving that research, not filling an empty space.
Crafted to last
Each Framed Art Print is made with fine art paper, then finished and framed by hand in Italy. We do not chase an immediate effect: we seek a result that remains faithful to the original colors over time, because a work designed to be passed down deserves a foundation as solid as the history it tells.

A work of art, not just decoration
A print does more than simply fill a wall: it brings with it a subject, an era, and a story that continues to speak to those who view it. The works by John Emslie preserved by Miriaci remain faithful to this principle — pieces chosen for their meaning, even before their aesthetic appeal.
Aesthetics fade. Meaning remains.
